Farmhouse Matopos is a proud supporter of Geocaching!
Traditional Geocache, Token of Mine
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is essentially a ‘treasure hunt’ by GPS. ‘Caches’ are hidden at a location and the GPS coordinates are used by geocachers to find what is hidden..
These caches often contain items that can be traded as well as small tokens known as ‘trackables’ which are moved from cache to cache around the world! All caches should contain a logbook so that you can document your find. There are many different types of caches, leaving plenty to be explored! For more detailed information go to www.geocaching.com
What do I need to do to join?
If you have a smartphone you can download the Geocaching App for free. All caches are recorded on this app and when finding your chosen cache it will use your phone GPS system to locate it. If not, you can record the GPS co-ordinates of nearby caches and use a handheld GPS to find the cache.
Is there a joining fee?
Unless you want to join the premium membership category there is no cost of joining- its free!
What does Farmhouse have to offer?
Farmhouse had two caches located on the property; a ‘traditional cache’ and a ‘multicache’. Unfortunately only the traditional cache still exists but many do exist in the Matopos area, adding value to activities in Matopos.
Look online for our cache, its called “Token of Mine”
Happy caching!
